Perhaps you are not pushing it correctly. Despite its appearance, this is more of a lever than a button. On the T3, you'll find it pivots with the fulcrum toward the center of the device, and only the end towards the outside goes up and down. If you press towards the outside edge, you should find the button works reliably every time. If you treat it as a button instead of a lever, you may not get suffiicient movement to turn it on or off.
