Although the official job posting hasn't made its way to our website yet, we
wanted to get the news out as quickly as possible to those of you who might be
interested: PalmSource has an opening in David Fedor's Developer Services
group. We're looking for an experienced developer (not necessarily a Palm OS
developer, although experience with Palm OS is definitely a plus) who is
interested in helping us help our developers. We in Developer Services monitor
the forums and host the developer conferences and the SyncUps. As a member of
the team you'll also get to write code, play with the latest hardware, and help
influence the products that PalmSource creates. Not to mention that you'll get
to hang out with a really cool group of people! 8-)

If you or someone you know is interested, please let us know! Go to
http://careers.hodes.com/palmsource/ and fill out a Job Agent profile (or
respond directly to the posting, if it appears by the time you get to the
website). Following my signature, below, is the text of the job posting.

Spread the word!

Thanks,

-Greg Wilson

 PalmSource, Inc.

Developer Services Engineer

PalmSource is adding to our world class Developer Services group to better help
developers create software that will change the way people use mobile
information technology both at home and at work. You will have the opportunity
to join and work with the leaders in handheld computer technology.

As a member of this organization you will provide in-depth technical design and
code-level support for Palm OS application developers (VAR, SI, in-house,
etc.). This includes: email and occasional phone-based support; writing and
reviewing sample code and technical notes, articles, web pages, and
documentation; introducing new Palm OS releases, software, and services at
developer conferences; conducting design and code reviews; and doing technical
feasibility studies. You will also work closely with a number of key partners
and may do some project work and on-site engineering.

You will also serve as a technical advocate for developers, helping to align
the company direction with the needs of our development community.

Qualifications:
        - 4-5 years' development experience with C/C++.
        - Solid programming and software design skills.
        - Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) are
mandatory.
        - Positive experience and reputation in public speaking and
presentation.
        - Ability to serve as a trustworthy and technically knowledgeable
representative in both casual and formal settings.
        - BS in Computer Science/Engineering or related experience.

Knowledge of the handheld market and experience in coding
communications-oriented solutions is a plus. Experience doing developer support
is a plus. Preference will be given to those who have experience programming
for the Palm OS platform.
