You mean for many locales the preferred date format for most people is ISO? I hadn't heard that...could you point me to some place that documents this?
At least in Sweden they consequently use this date format.

same for Japan excep that sometime the year is counted since the start of the reign of the emperor for this period but (this is the case in the administration) But in all cases they use year then month then days and in most cases use 4 digit western style year Benoit
