I would question whether having to write C code means CASL supports the whole API :-)
It's not unique in that regard either. AFAIK both SF and NSBasic allow extensions to be written like that.

I'm not convinced that's a good idea, even in principle. You get too much of a lowest common denominator result for my tastes.
