We had a user who was experiencing sporadic problems with our software on a
Tungsten E. When we attempted to recreate the problem on the emulator or a
simulator or an actual device, we had no luck at all. After searching
through multiple pda user forums, I determined that there are occasionally
problems with running third-party software on the Tungsten E. The only
solution to the problem is to have the user return the device to PalmOne.
It seems to me that it is more likely an actual bug in the 3rd party
s/w, not something in the device itself. It is quite true that
different devices, and their corresponding OS implementations, may cause
bugs to me more prevalent on one device than another. But, I would
suspect that if the custom got another TE, and managed to get it into
the same memory state with the s/w as previously stated, then the crash
would happen again. You might want to employ some debugging techniques
that involve the customer if you want to find this bug. This presumes
that you have an understanding, tolerant and cooperative customer.
