Will the linux based version of PalmOS run traditional PalmOS apps in an emulation layer? I was under the impression that Linux Cobalt would just be the exact same OS and application layer ported to run on the linux kernel. Which is true? Are we going to have another PACE-like environment to deal with?
As far as I know, PACE will be a part of Palm OS for Linux allowing execution of 68K programs, the same PACE used for Palm OS Cobalt. What wasn't certain back when I left PalmSource was if Palm OS Protein applications written for the current Cobalt will run directly on Palm OS for Linux, or if they will need to be recompiled as Linux applications. I would guess that a lot of these details will be clarified at the Developer Conference in May.
