Thanks for this information. I am not sure, though, if it explains our problem, as we can always write long filenames to the same SD Card's root directory with Windows Explorer ( Windows XP Pro and a USB card reader ) even while the Treo is failing to do so. This suggests to me that it is a Palm OS issue.
