Check the archives. This isn't an issue just with the Treo 650; all devices do
this. The catch here is that the OS reads this preference only after a reset
and caches the value. So changes to the preference by itself has no effect

No, I think Doug was suggesting that he trigger a system reset. Sending the reset launch code, as you suggest, would be MUCH nicer if it works. I haven't tried it, but I'd be interested to hear if it does work in this case. Bob.
