Scott, another idea. I know that it's not what you want, but consider it nevertheless.
All the virus scanners for PalmOS that I am familiar with don't update their definitions directly (i.e., not by connecting to a virus definitions database distribution site with the PDA). Instead, they have a conduit which runs on the PC, takes care to download the latest virus definitions and to put them on the device during a HotSync. Not as good as being able to download directly from the device - but probably good enough, given that there hasn't been a need for new virus definitions for this OS for years and that just about everybody HotSyncs their device at least once a week. And, while working on the PC site (from the conduit), you can easily implement whatever comminication protocols you want - it's basically a DLL running under Windows.
