Every Palm should turn off automatically when the battery reaches a certain low-point (and there should be warning dialogs beforehand). Afterwards the data should still be safe for a while (>24h). If your m130 just goes off and loses all data, maybe your battery is discharging too fast at the end. You could compensate by setting the warning level higher (there are applications that allow you to do that).
