Hi,
Monika, I would like to ask you how long you programming for PalmOS?
I am programming for PalmOS since 2002. But right now I am confused - I am not sure what will be happen with this OS - moving on Linux.
What's your oppinion? Will PalmOS survive?

Actually I think "Palm OS for Linux" is, quite simply, a decision that'll save Palm OS.

PalmSource weren't getting the necessary level of interest with Cobalt for a variety of reasons, but changing the OS kernel from their internally developed Cobalt kernel to Linux is simply a damn good idea! Though a non-trivial effort, it'll start paying off almost immediately

It also looks like, based on the couple of "Palm OS for Linux" sessions I went to at the Developer Conference this week and some private conversations with some technical people from licensees, that PalmSource's implementation approach for "Palm OS for Linux" looks very good.

Their approach should ensure excellent forward compatibility for applications developed for both PACE (68K emulation) and also Protein (native mode) environments. Because of the Protein compatibility of "Palm OS for Linux" , licensees who implement Cobalt-based devices shouldn't be left out of the application development stream, which might help the availability of some Cobalt-based devices before "Palm OS for Linux" becomes stable and shippable.

Just my 2 cents-worth...
