(especially for Zire , >Tungsten). No; there is NO unique identifier for these devices, period, and no amount of wishing will make it so. You can obtain the Hot Sync user name, if at least one Hot Sync has been performed so that a name is assigned. On some devices there are additional things you can use such as a WiFi mac address (*very* few models) or a phone IMEI number. But the lack of a ROM serial number tends to occur mostly with lower-end devices such as those you named, and they don't have the other features either. The Treo 600 and 650 are the apparent exception to this, because the normal method for getting the ROM serial does not work and in order to get the serial number you must test the company and device IDs then issue the Handspring specific APIs to request the serial number.
