What about to open the DIA before doing the progress stuff and close it after you've done? It's not that nice, but the system will know about the open DIA. You may need some event processing in between. For example open the DIA and when you get the Resize event you start the progress stuff.

However, I think you can close it by calling PINSetInputAreaState (pinInputAreaClosed).

I tried it, but it gets restores when the Progress Dialog gets >>displayed.

I meant calling it *after* the Progress Dialog is displayed, of >course. Something like this:

ProgressPtr prg;

prg = PrgStartDialog ("Progressing...", progressCallback, NULL); PINSetInputAreaState (pinInputAreaClosed);

If that's not good enough (i.e., if the DIA is displayed every >time the progress dialog is updated), call PINSetInputAreaState >every time from progressCallback().

No, that wasn't good enough, so I tried closing the DIA area upon every single
update of the Progress dialog. It produces some odd DIA bouncing, but still, if
an alert must be displayed, even after the Progress Dialog is closed, the alert
gets truncated at the bottom of the screen :(
