Ive slowly found out that the Address Book on the many Tero 650s does not
work as the PalmSource and Handspring docs say it should. In my debugging I
have yet to find a way that I can search the address book for a given
number. I know I have the code right since it works just fine on a 600
(Sprint). Does anyone know what changes have been made to the 650 that
would cause this, or how to access the address book in a manner that a
simple search can be done? Note, the code also works on the Treo 650
simulator. I have not had a chance to test it on all firmware versions for
the 650, but Ive had some help testing on a few different ones, and none
worked as they should (TMobile GSM, Sprint CDMA, Cingular GMS, Unlocked
GSM). I am about to resort to doing the search myself, my only reservations
are the fact I do not know enough about the AddressDB database that holds
each contact. I assume there are difference on some devices with this DB,
since the system calls are not working as they should. Maybe the name of
the DB, or the type/creator, or the format of how each contact in placed in
its record in the DB. Can anyone explain the structure of these records so
i can safely parse them and pull out the data I need to do my search? I
have looked into the database with FileZ, and can see all the fields in
there, but the "header" of the record (first few bits of data) are a mystery
to me. Any help on this subject would be greatly appretiated.
