I've been doing something similar with an alphanumeric keypad. I found one with a serial keypad and I'm using a serial to bluetooth converter to interface it to the Tungsten T3 as well as others. You have to have bluetooth on the PDA of course and I don't know whether of not the Zire 31 has. There are full keyboards available with bluetooth interfaces.

I have a scenario where my client would rather have a cheap, fullsize PC/AT keyboard; rather than the wireless fold-up. Do you know of any converter cable/box and palm software to allow a Zire31, for example, to be physically connected and take input from a PC/AT keyboard? If not, I would consider building my own converter: 1) Any guidance on the converter from pc/at din5, to (for example) a Zire31 serial port? I have not looked into either spec deeply, and do realize that a microcontroller may need to be involved - and maybe even batterie$. 2) Any guidance on the API calls that would insert keystrokes into the system’s input buffer? I would prefer that all applications benefit from the keyboard; but if this is not possible, then I could just read the serial port and insert keystrokes in my applications event loop. -- For information on using the PalmSource Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/ -- For information on using the PalmSource Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/
