Subject: Java in Palm OS
I'm trying to develop an M-Learning system on Palm OS, I'm just in the midst
of choosing to develop this application in JAVA or in the Palm OS fashion
way, I have to say that this system is going to be used on mobile phones and
Pocket PC as well, for this case I know developing in JAVA is going to save
me the trouble of writing my application from scratch on Pocket PC to some
extent.
Since I'm new to JAVA programming (specially J2ME), I would like to know
what's the best choice here for me. If I program in JAVA do I have access to
the same functions which I have with the usual Palm OS programming.

I looked into using JAVA to develop PalmOS apps a bit ago. I found that the
device needs to have a java VM installed on the device. And for some users
this would mean paying their service operator a few $$ to have it installed.
Some can get it for free, but it is still something that needs to be
installed on the device before a JAVA app can run.
Two main choices are Superwaba and the IBM Java runtime based on WebSphere.
Based on past comments on the list, SuperWaba is more attuned to the
Palm environment.
You'd have to Google the products to find out the financial implications.
