PODS is almost free if you sign the licensing agreement. For the minimal cost, why not determine if your system can run it (based on your computer's operating system, hard drive space, and memory), decide if you have to upgrade your computer to run it (and how much you are willing to spend to do that), and IF you can run PODS, get a copy of it and see if you can make sense out of the IDE. If so, then you are on your way. If not, then you are out a relatively small amount of money, which you might be able to benefit from in the future as your hardware and OS are upgraded and your programming skills improve. (Personally, I can use C/C++, but I'm used to Borland Builder, and linking resources to code is going to be a whole new ball game for me.)
