I had the same problem, my solution:
I've made a button without border and text at the same position than the
password field and the pw field itself is not editable. Tapping on the
pw field causes now a form to pop up that asks for the pw. In this form
th old pw isn't displayed and the new which is being entered is in clear.
I think it's much easier for graphiti users to enter pws if they can read
what they enter. If the "OK" button is hit in this form the pw is stored,
the popup form closed and the pw field in the main form displays some "*".
