>From the Package Installer FAQ: Q: How does an end user get Package Installer? A: Ideally, an end user should never need to explicitly get the Package Installer. When using our provided web templates, the user of a wireless Palm OS device will automatically be prompted to download and install the Package Installer if they do not have it, or if they have an older version.
How this works from the Deployment_Guide.pdf: 1. (On the device) Display a web page that shows a "Checking to see if your handheld is set up properly" message and try to run PIC with a special PalmCall command that checks the version. 2. If the customer has a current version of PIC (Palmsource Installer Client) installed, PIC will redirect the browser to download the appropriate PSI file based upon the device's capabilities. 3. If the customer has an older version of PIC installed, they will be presented with an "Install Newer PIC" link. 4. If the customer does not have PIC installed, the command will fail. After 10 seconds, the JavaScript on the page will automatically redirect the user to the "Install PIC" page. 5. In both case 3 and 4, the user will install PIC. After it is installed, PIC will relaunch the browser and again attempt to download the optimized file. -Jeremy -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Oscar De León Sent: Monday, October 24, 2005 11:39 AM To: Palm Developer Forum Subject: OTA on Treo600/650 Hi, Palm announced some time ago their product OTA Over The Air to enable handhelds update applications and databases over the internet.
