I read this announcement in the various press web sites (I didn't get the letter in email). I thought that they were very good and very honest letters. I think it's easy to be cynical about letters like this, but never once has Palm said they're backing away from Palm OS. I do think that they'll follow the money and the market, but it will take a couple of years (at least) for a Windows Mobile Treo device to bear out (it will take them a couple of device revs at least to get all the kinks out). Keeping Palm OS (and possibly investigating Linux as well) keeps their current market base and gives them the most options as a company.
