CodeWarrior for Palm is an _old_ product, I grant you. When I used it
first ( '96 I believe ) it was a crappy port of a Mac program that tried
to run a Mac IDE on a PC. It sucked. As did the next version, and the next.
CW Palm is going to die, I agree with you.
It's already dead. I still use it when I do Palm OS programming; I know
all of its quirks as well as its special abilities, but no one has been
there to work on the code for the Palm OS tools since I left in early 2004.
Metrowerks recently followed the roadmap and CW is going to CW 10 but CW
for Palm still frozen in 9.3.
Actually CW for Macintosh 10 is the last version for that platform,
AFAIK. Metrowerks doesn't really exist anymore, they've now officially
become just the tools group for Freescale Semiconductor. The CodeWarrior
name is still going to be used for their embedded tools, but the company
that I used to work for is pretty much gone.
As for version numbering... CW for Palm OS V9 actually used the IDE that
shipped with CW for Windows/Mac 8, although the 68K compilers were based on
the core code used in CW for Windows/Mac 6, and the ARM compiler was a
pre-release version of what would become the CW for ARM Embedded toolset.
