"Not that I needed to": No, I meant that I only needed to call the Set function, and I used the PrefGetPreference to get the preferences.  You're right that I'm using Garnet.

In that same document, go to Appendix A at

where the System Use Only function list is at.  It says:

  "SndSetDefaultVolume (in Palm OS Garnet; this function
may be used with prior Palm OS versions)"

Not that you needed to?  You do realize that Garnet is the name for OS5; it
seems you are thinking of Cobalt which is OS6.

point out the docs do say "don't do that".
