where the System Use Only function list is at. It says:
"SndSetDefaultVolume (in Palm OS Garnet; this function
may be used with prior Palm OS versions)"

Not that you needed to? You do realize that Garnet is the name for OS5; it
seems you are thinking of Cobalt which is OS6.

I don't know why the caveat about using it on OS5 (Garnet) exists but wanted to
point out the docs do say "don't do that".
