Locking needs to be done on segments that contain callback functions that
are called from outside of your application.

If you need to make sure the handle will stick around, don't use
DmQueryRecord but use DmGetRecord/DmReleaseRecord. On pre 5.4.9
devices, the OS doesn't know when you're done with a
DmQueryRecord-obtained item, so it can throw it out of memory before
you've completed your work.
