I thought that this was a great solution, but I now find an unfortunate side effect. When users use the popup keyboard to enter numbers into a numeric field, they cannot enter the minus sign. Since the field is set to numeric, the Palm OS blocks the minus sign, and in this case I do not have the option of trapping the key input because I no longer get the keyDownEvent.
