With regard to Barcode readers, Douglas Handy already answered this with
a very definitive answer - in case you didn't get it, here it is...
There are several alternatives. Symbol makes a variety of devices with
an integrated laser scanner in the SPTxxxx family, though they have not
come out with new Palm OS based models in a long time.
Options for Palm OS devices depending on how you want it attached:
- Several companies make bluetooth wireless scanners which can be used
- At least one makes a SDIO based scanner (Socket In-Hand (sp?) )

- Grabba makes a full line of scanners which clip to various devices,
depending on which device you have and features you want

I believe there are also a few which can attach via a serial connection
to older units with a Universal Connector, or perhaps an Athena
Multi-connector with serial adapter.
