There certainly is room to develop on Linux. I developed my first commercial applications on a Toshiba Satellite 210 with 32 MB of RAM and a 3GB disc. I used the lightweight Blackbox (I think that's the name) window manager under X11, with the GCC/prc tool set. I used pilot-xfer to install the applications on the Palm device (using IRDA or usb cable as appropriate).
I'd allow a week to set up a working environment provided your laptop hardware is supported.

no that's the problem, there isn't enough memory for Linux/eclipse, but Bloodshed run with the MinGW compiler. So I guess my question must be how to integrate prc tools into that environment. Is that possible?
