Our beloved leader Ciaran has little respect for paludis-extras. This isn't really the place to ask about things, you should use the P-E thread on the Gentoo forums.
The P-E server died a horrible death a couple of weeks back, they're still not fully back and their svn server is still down. Ok I now feel confused and stupid, whenn I used paludis on the old box I need paludis-hooks for a variety of reasons one of them being update-eix.
