-0 is a very bad idea. Regarding -o, I marked a text passage from the man page
for you:
-o , --permit-old-version
Permit installs of versions matching the supplied specification
even if those versions are worse than the best visible version *in the slot*.
Use '*/*' to allow all worse versions to be
installed.
You could try something like --without 'kde-base/*:3.5', although it might be a
better idea to migrate the ebuilds to your local repository or find a repository
which still maintains them.
Actually, it would be a better idea to get rid of it, but I guess that's not an
option for you. :-P ;-)
