I hope I have the jargon right for what I'm trying to ask.

Whenever I choose a new thread in a group, 0.119 automatically expands it.
This is fine most of the time. However, it's sometimes an inconvenience.

If I enter a very busy group, or one that gets spammed heavily (and that I
can't readily create filters for), I first go through all the threads new
since last time I looked, deleting ones I can tell on sight I do not want
to read.

When the next thread below the last of a group I delete has only one post,
all is fine. When however that thread has a whole lot of posts, I have to
click first on the little arrow to unexpand it before I can skim down to
find the next that I want to mark for deletion.

Also, in any group I post to often, I sometimes want just to skim through
the threads telling Pan to watch certain ones that it isn't already
watching. Here again, auto-expansion is just an inconvenience.

Otoh, I used to get along perfectly well in 0.14.xyz without the
auto-expansion, in all groups.

So is there a way to turn auto-expansion off? There doesn't seem to be, in
Edit Preferences nor in Edit Group Preferences. Did I just miss it? Can I
hope for one?
