Welcome Bruce,

The first thing I would suggest is joining the papercut ninjas mailing list,
here you can ask questions as well as keep up with what other people are up to.
Not sure how much you know about papercuts but basically we target small issues
(although they can be deceivingly complex) for a selected bunch of projects
each release. You can see the bugs we have targeted for this release here:
https://launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/raring

Basically as a developer you can pick a bug you like assign it to yourself and
start working away. If you get stuck or have further questions, want help, etc
just reply to the papercut ninjas email list once you have signed up.

Hope this helps,
Tim

Subject: New user and contributor

Hello,

I've been an avid Mac user for several years, but have been intrigued by
the growth of the open-source movement and want to contribute! I'm an
experienced scientific-c programmer and would love to debug for the
Ubuntu program. Based on what I've read a good starting place was here.
I thought I'd say hello and ask for any general information for new
contributors.

Thank you,
Bruce
