Virginia, have you tried Aleene's Tacky Glue?

It is a bit thicker and does not tend to want to run or drip like regular
white glue.
Applied with a toothpick makes it easy - I put a glob of glue on a piece of
aluminum foil to dip the toothpick into.
Also it is Non-Toxic.
