Nope, I think  it has everything to do with the American way of life
especialy the insurance stuff and ridiculous law suits.
I work at Tupperware Belgium. Our injection molding machines have parts that
are heated up to 300°C. every technician knows that and other people can't
access those parts without going to some troubles.
nevertheless there are warning signs for high temperature, because our
American head office dictates so...

I was looking at some of the models I saved from Cannon, trying to decide
which one to do next. I found a warning in the Christmas Tree Basic model
that cracked me up. It says
 
Caution: Do not hit other people with the pointed edges. Doing so could
result in injury. Adults should make sure that children observe this caution

 
You know that there were probably people who did this to prompt this caution.
