Paola (Sorry others for gone way off topic!) In Japan, we have many calender systems besides western calender, and one of them is Sexagenary cycle, which are combinations of the ten Heavenly Stems and the twelve Earthly Branches (Do you know the twelve animals? This year's animal is ox.). More detale : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexagenary_cycle
And the year's auspicious direction is determined according to ten Heavenly Stems. See this site : http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%81%B5%E6%96%B9 The first column shows the ten heavenly stems and second column shows the corresponding least digit of western calender. And in the fifth column, you can find the year's direction. (Don't ask me how or who made this chart ;->) General information about Setsubun : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Setsubun Tetsuya On 1月9日, 午前3:21, Paola <[email protected]> wrote: > Thank you, Paul and Tetsuya.
