I build a lot of flying models as well as paper. I hate building
biplanes, but I love to have them when they are finished. I'll post
my FG DH2 when I get a chance. The pros know that you should always
build a jig to help put the upper and lower wings together. For a
flying model, alignment is critical. Also do not cut interplane
struts to the length specified. There are always almost undetectable
distortions in the wings, and the struts will be either too long or
too short. Each strut should be fit in its own place. The jig is
simple, just two rectangles with long spanwise members to hold them
together. A long box. Then put the lower wing in the box and the
upper wing on the box. Voila, they are aligned correctly, and you can
insert the struts with only two hands. Sometimes the lower wing is in
two halves with the fuselage in the middle. In that case, put the
lower wings on the fuselage first. I use .5mm black beading cord for
rigging. It stretches, and it won't relax with time.
