Subject: [Papermodels II 35135] John Freeman's Photos--Historic panorama
I love history, and the history of our hobby is quite amazing--actually going
back a long time. This historic model is from 1917. You may argue with my
calling it a model, as it is a panorama, but still a model of the real world.
This example came from the Toy Theater website
http://www.vischmarktpapierentheater.nl/Winter_2009/Welcome.html
The original is about two feet wide--too big for my house, so I shrunk it to
about a third of that.
Pictures do not really let you feel how 3D these actually look when your eyes
are close enough so the inside of the toy is all you see.
There are several scenes to choose among. These were my choices--
1--A slave taking raid in Africa--lots of stuff going on that the camera
can't see!
2--The Franklin expedition to the North, with their ship firmly stuck in the
ice
3--The view from Robinson Crusoe's beach, with the shipwreck just off shore
4--The God-like view from above
If these old models interest you, you really should sign up on the German
Card Model forum http://www.kartonmodell-forum.de/forum/index.php They
have an amazing collection of historic models available for download to
members.
