Hi Guys 'n' Gals Its been a long while since I designed anything in paper, but I've been busy making 3D models. So I've come full circle and now happily dividing my time with that and designing paper buildings. I purchased Pepakura some time ago, but fo the life of me cannot get it to do exactly what I want, as in correct scale. As I model almost entirely in Sketchup I needed a method of unwrapping the 3D model, apply a texture and still retain the parent complete model for export to my employer's proprietary modeling app. With a bit of practice and patience I have come up with a solution that suits both the 3d modling and for paper models. I know there is a program called Waybe, and I was on the beta test program. While it worked ok, it froze my Sketchup everytime I used it. Anyway here's a link to a tutorial I created for those who may have considered Sketchup as a model making solution. http://www.resentmentpublications.com/downloads/SUUVMAP.pdf
And another link to a model house that I created, textured, and unfolded in Sketchup using the technique in the tutorial. Time taken: Just under three hours. http://www.resentmentpublications.com/downloads/demohouse.jpg Cheers Bob da Kiwi --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Papermodels II" group.
