Good of you to mention these dangers, Bob. I first came across use of CA
when building wooden ship models oh so many years ago, and the dangers were
not as well known at that time to the general public. I have come to find
out through various sources how dangerous use of this product can be,
particularly as to inhaling the vapors. I am not a Doc and have not studied
the effects personally, but I have been told the vapors act on your lungs
just like they do to the skin, it almost crystallizes the sacs you need to
breath in oxygen. It can cause a condition akin to asthma and possibly much
worse if proper ventilation is not used and measures taken to avoid inhaling
the vapors. As you mention I use it very rarely these days and avoid
working in close quarters or breathing the vapors as best as I can when I
do.

Good heads up!

Cheers!

I've finally "discovered" using superglue for paper models.
Many on the list have talked about it but I always stayed away - until now.
Wow! I see many uses in my crystal ball for the future.
Have found a new respect for it while forming the basic rear framework for
the Airco Dh2.
Works like a charm.
The Wires will be covered over with the paper strut supports, and then all
painted.

JoeG,
Be certain not to breath the stuff; the affects are cumulative. We
modelers tend to get our nose right down into the work area close to the
fumes. Make certain you have a work table fan or something to move that air
over your model when using cyanocryate.

Pneumonia twice (second one a real beaut) in a ten month period and
many visits to the Doctors/ Specialists and test centers convinced me to
stop using the stuff. That ended my "plastic" modeling hobby but thanks to
David Okamura I was introduced to card/paper modeling; don't tell anyone but
card modeling is three times more fun.

Sure, I still use the stuff to stiffen and strengthen small parts,
rigging attach points, etc but always at arms length and with the garage
door open.

     Hope this caution helps,

Bob Penikas
