The springs are like paper braids.  Looking at the instructions panel
20 you see strip #1 laid horizontal pointing to the right and strip #2
laid vertical and pointing up, overlapping the end of #1.  Fold #1
over the end of #2 so it sanwiches the end of #2 and is now pointing
to the left.  Fold #2 down over #1 so it is now pointing down and
sandwiches #1.  Then just fold #1 to the right over #2, and #2 up and
over #1.  Keep folding the strips over each other, reversing the
direction each time.

Those are the same kind of springs used in the escapement mechanism
that is offered as a free download on the site.  They work very
good. :)

I printed out all of the parts sheets for the clock.  That's a purty
thick stack-o-pages. :^)
