The Yorktown (CV-10) was of the Essex Class. Named to replace the Yorktown
(CV-5) that was sunk at the Battle of Midway.

The Yorktown Class comprised the Yorktown (CV-5), Enterprise (CV-6), and, after
the Washington Naval Treaty was dissolved, Hornet (CV-8).

You'll note the gap between the Enterprise and Hornet. The Wasp (CV-7) was
built to fill-in the tonnage that the Washington Naval Treaty allowed for, The
Wasp was essentially a "one-off" ship and weighted in at 14,700 tons versus the
19,800 (pre-war weight) tons of her bigger sisters.
