use thick paper, and make lots of nesting paper straws.  on the inside you 
attach the male of one straw to one side, the female to some place on the 
opposite inside wall, and then telescope the straws so that each side is 
properly supported, then a dot of glue to lock the straws in place.

I am currently printing out the St Bernard from 
Canon at 4 x 4 pages to one A4 page.  That's um... lots and lots of 
pages!  :)  
 
I'm hoping that he stands as tall as a youngish 
puppy of the breed and will post pictures as I go.  I'm planning on doing a 
bit of gluing tonight, seeing as I'm back at the theatre doing backstage in a 
couple of nights.  
 
I take my dares seriously. mwaa ha ha ha 
ha
