Spot on about using card for the tiger, just watch out if your printer uses a "U" shaped feed path it doesn't jam. Could I also suggest you might think about as you build up the tail for the tiger you fit a card bulkhead(washer with a hole) at the end of the segments of the tail so you can feed an armature throught the tail to support the structure.
