Actually ALL soviet aircraft cariers use this way ("ski jump") of
launching it's aircrat instead of steam catapult. It's more reliable
and aircraft can take off in a row withour delay. And yes, they have
MiG-29 and Su-27 (Su-27K, Su-33) navy models flying from such
carier...
