But they fit with the future as imagined at the time.
I always liked the Pontiac Firebird (not the one from the 60's and up)
and Club de Mer, as well as the Lincoln Futura (which became the
Batmobile on TV) and Ford Levacar (a GEV which was a sort of predictive
metaphor for the US auto industry since it was impossible to steer or
make go anywhere except down) Ah, the 50's and early 60's had some
wonderfully wild and daffy concept vehicles. Where did all that
creativity go?
