I considered making the long saddle tank strips one piece, but it would have meant getting longer board. I'm curious about the skins too. I've seen them go on in other builds and they seem to go well. The directions call for the saddle tank skins to be applied before it's attached to the sub. I think it would be better to tack the formers to the sub and attach the skins. Then I can make sure they fit firmly against the hull on the bottom edge. The top is somewhat moot because the tops of the saddle tank skins actually pass through slots in the hull so an exact hull fit is not needed at the tops. I am not going to make the left-hand tank formers until I see how the right-hand tank fits. Because of the size of the model, I'm using a 100# bristol and it's pretty rigid. Saddle Tanks 2 Trimmed out and glued up the Right Hand saddle tank pieces. Each tank is made up of 19 pieces. Putting them together they are a little fiddly, but in the end glue up nice and strong. I tacked the formers together with a small drop of CA glue, followed by Elmer's PVA. This works well when the pieces fit a little loose. Mine did because I cut the cross openings a little wider than they should have been. The long, horizontal formers are two-pieces each, held together with slats. Thanks for lookin'!
