I agree the first generation CFL where sub standard in there lighting properties.
Please go to a proper light fixture or electrical supply house or a large store that will have a better selection, size, shape, wattage. You can know get them in different temperature (colours) Warm, cool , etc... But I agree that the disposal is a hassel, I have only replaced very few over the years, since using them for nearly 7 years now, so it is now that troublesome.
