Guess we had it powered up too high in order for us to see. > > Bob Penikas > -- Bob, As an ex-sparky of 20 years I can tell you that Yes they do contain mercury and No you can't use a dimmer on fluorescents tubes and although you can buy a specific dimmer for them, you can't use a normal incandescent dimmer. Fluoros don't like anything lower than normal, here 240 over there 120 ?, volts and reach the less than efficacious side of salubrious in operation when delivery voltage gets down and dirty.
