People At the risk of blowing my own trumpet, I am pleased to announce the fruition of a project I have been working on for a few months now. After an approach by the UK-based magazine Marine Modelling International, I designed a card model of a ship for inclusion as a free giveaway in the December issue. This has just hit the newstands and includes a full cover photo of the model.
The ship featured is the MV Marwina, a small modern buoy tender based in Suriname. The model is in 1:250 scale, makes up to about 14cm long, comes on 2 sheets of A4 and has been designed to be straightforward to built but still make a good model (think early WHV). There is also a download sheet on the MMI site with "advanced" alternative parts for more ambitious modellers. Individual copies of the magazine can be ordered from the publishers - the link to the current issue on the MMI site is: http://www.marinemodelmagazine.com/issue/issue.aspx?cid=4651 Note I am NOT selling this model through my Paper Shipwright website - though I have put up some shots of the completed model. Look under "other projects" in the left-hand menu. Hopefully this will go some way to encouraging a few readers/modellers to have a go at card modelling and also, given the circulation of the magazine, this will be my most-printed/sold model to date!
