for $1-$3 from ebay or your local old fashioned hardware store you can get 
medical hemostats, aka the doctors clamps.  they work great.  I have a bunch of 
different sizes and angles, if you look around you can find them without the 
teeth, or do what I do and just grind the teeth down.  

Of course the more expensive way to get them is to show up at the emergency 
room for stitches, they will give you your set as a complimentary on exit if 
you ask...  I've gotten a few that way too. :((((
