I hear ya. I gave it as a b-day present as well and had the same reaction that 
the ability to create personal messages would be a bit hit  But that is how 
things got "wobbly because the even the easy model handling to change the sign 
turned into "dropsy" and sure enough the thing fell on the flags!

Still a great gift!

  I used a yellow felt tip pen to color the tooth picks then gave each 
toothpick a coating of Testors clear dull coat. When dry they were inserted 
into the indicated locators and glued in place using Aleen's Tacky Glue. So 
far, no problem. Since this model was intended as a birthday card I just had 
fun and wasn't bothered with getting everything perfectly straight as expected 
for competitions.

  The personalized digital sign is certain to please my sister-in-law. The 
image is available to create your own Marquee sign.
