Using acrylic Burnt Siena with flow enhancer to make brushing it on easier, I 
find the resulting leather appearance rather pleasing. My intention is to allow 
sufficient dry time (two days) then give the paper model an  overall protective 
coating of Krylon  acrylic clear spray matt.
